Save the Bathroom

DESIGN DILEMMA:  HOW CAN YOU IMPROVE A DOOR FRAME WHEN IT’S TOO CLOSE TO A TILED SHOWER!

Inside this gorgeous country French home is a lavish powder room suite. The suite has three rooms lined with beautifully wood three panel arch doors, travertine marble floor and dark wood crown moldings.   The rooms were placed sequentially; first is a cloakroom, second is a lavatory room and last is a water closet with an oversized shower. Unfortunately the oversized shower and the door clashed; a piece of wood trim lining the door was taken and replaced by travertine marble. How can we improve the door frame?  What is the solution without demolishing this bathroom including tiled walls, floor and wood door?

JOHN’S SOLUTION:

Save the bathroom with a simple detail.  It was an oversight for both the shower and the door.  A decorative and floral border is added to perimeter of the shower and the door. This simple relationship of materials is all needed to accommodate and compliment each other.
